An exhibition dedicated to the emotions of the city has opened at Sky Art Foundation

“Feeling the City” a new project by Sergiy Bozhko, an artist from Odesa, was presented in Kyiv on September 20 at the metropolitan art space Sky Art Foundation. The exhibition is organized by Sky Art Foundation and runs until October 9th, 2016.

To make the project happen the artist visited 25 regions of Ukraine and has portrayed the emotions he felt while visiting each of them. His perception has been influenced not only by landscape and architecture, but also by people who live there. They set the mood and character of the paintings, says Bozhko.

The artworks of the series have been shown for the first time. Sergei Bozhko has reflected each region in his abstract style contours – realistic, stylized in straight lines. “I am interested in a form with a sacred meaning. Each trip I had was like new movie, without knowing what to expect in the other moment. Back home I knew exactly which color and texture should I use to reflect my emotion”, says Sergiy Bozhko.

“It’s a second time when we host an exhibition of Sergiy Bozhko in our gallery, and it’s not a coincidence. We have discussed this project with the artist long time ago. We wanted something abstract and emotional, and Sergiy has been dreaming of creating a project dedicated to his native country, reflected in abstract form. Everything came together and we’ve got this amazing project today. Hopefully we cooperate in the future”, said Dmytro Palienko, founder of Sky Art Foundation, giving comment on the exhibition opening.

Sergei Bozhko was born in 1985 in Odessa. He learned best from his father Igor Bozhko, a prominent representative of the Odessa school of nonconformism. Sergey works in different genres of fine art, but his biggest preference is an abstraction. Apart of creating painting, he also works with sculpture.
