“The Balance”, a new project by Yuriy Koval, an artist from Lviv, was presented in Kyiv on January 22 at the metropolitan art space Sky Art Foundation. The exhibition is organized by Sky Art Foundation and runs until February 17th, 2016.
“The Balance” deals with the every day choices we make in life. These choices form our personality and mould us into the people we are, for better or for worse. I’ve layered the daily shots to touch upon the questions that influence our choices”, – Yuriy Koval describes his project.
Most of the presented art pieces have never been publicly exhibited before. Koval uses black-and-white and cool color palette to create ironic and allegorical paintings that channel the main idea of the project through a juxtaposition of comic and at times incompatible things. “Yuriy Koval is one of the most talented young artists of our time. His art works adorn the collections of both Ukrainian art connoisseurs and foreign collectors. Hyperrealism, the art form the artist employs most frequently, is extremely popular today. I am sure that the project “The Balance” is just the beginning of our fruitful and long-term cooperation with Yuriy Koval”, – says Dmytro Palienko, founder of Sky Art Foundation.
Yuriy Koval was born in 1979 in Lviv. In 1998 he received a diploma of Ivan Trush Lviv State College of Decorative and Applied Arts. In 2004 he graduated from the Faculty of Interior Design of the Lviv National Academy of Arts. From 2000 to 2015 Yuriy Koval has taken part in many prestigious exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. His art pieces have frequently sold out at the biggest Ukrainian auctions organized by “Golden Section” auction house. The main art form of Koval is painting. The artist is currently living and working in Lviv.
