Ukrainian and Chinese project “Synergy” has opened in Kyiv

On July 28th Kyiv art space Sky Art Foundation presented a dual project by Yuriy Mustov and Alena Olasyuk entitled “Synergy”. Their works will be on display until August 14.

The project is organized by NGO Sky Art Foundation in a partnership with Sergey Makhno Gallery.

«Yuriy Musatov’s ceramics is peculiar for permanent search of new forms, technologic experiments, conceptual contents and intellectual simplicity. Alena Olasyuk likes simple things with philosophical richness of content. Recently living in China, the artist has not escaped the impact of Eastern culture and philosophy. Inspired by the art of calligraphy, Alena started to create ink graphics. The leitmotif of her art works is the idea of things duality. Minimalism, monochrome, love to geometria are the general features that unite both artists”, said project curator Julia Ostrovska.

The exhibition displays about 30 works of the artists. The combination of graphic works of ceramic emphasizes the design aspect of the project. Musatov’s ceramic is taken from the private collections of Sergey Makhno and Dmytro Palienko.

“Yuriy Musatov has already presented his art pieces in an art space Sky Art Foundation before. For Alena Olasyuk it is a pioneer experience. I am convinced that the exhibition will be highly appreciated by visitors, because any art collaborations between different countries are extremely interesting and important for both – artists themselves and the public. They expand our horizons and teach us to see things from different sides”, commented Dmytro Palienko, founder of Sky Art Foundation.

Yuriy Musatov was born in 1981 in Konotop town of Sumy region. He graduated from Lviv National Academy of Art in 2008, the Faculty of Applied and Decorative Arts, Department of Art Pottery. He was a frequent winner of international specialized competitions and scholarships. At the end of 2015 Musatov became number one in Sky Art Foundation grant competition for young artists with his project “Dreams Laboratory”, its main idea being creating ‘public artist workshops’. Musatov’s works are kept in private and museum collections in Ukraine, Poland, Germany, USA, Portugal, Slovenia, Latvia and Belarus.
